HOUSES & BADGES
St. Joseph High School has six Houses named after mountain ranges and riverside communities found in and around Guyana and is signified by colors as follows:
The current house system was introduced in 1973. Former head of the school’s Geography Department, Ms. Brenda Gonzales, played a major role in this development. Each house is led by a house Master/Mistress, who is assisted by a House Captain, Vice-Captain, Secretary and Treasurer.
In addition to the annual Inter-House Athletic Championship and the Cricket, Football, Basketball, Volleyball and Circle Tennis tournaments, students are also prepped to represent their respective houses at Elocution and Impromptu Speaking competitions.
